Progesterone is a sex hormone produced by the corpus luteum (yellow body in the ovary) during the second phase (luteal phase) of the menstrual cycle and in larger amounts during pregnancy by the placenta.
Progesterone is also produced during the synthesis of steroid hormones in the adrenal cortex in both women and men.
However, significant amounts of progesterone are only found in women.

After ovulation, in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, luteinizing hormone (LH) together with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) stimulate the production of progesterone by the corpus luteum in the ovary.
Under the influence of progesterone, the uterine lining is prepared for the implantation of the fertilized egg.
If a pregnancy does not occur, the production of progesterone by the corpus luteum will gradually decrease due to negative feedback: at a certain concentration of progesterone, the pituitary gland is inhibited, and with it the production of LH. This causes the corpus luteum to disappear and the production of progesterone decreases. As a result, the thickenings in the uterine lining are no longer maintained and menstruation begins.

Progesterone also changes the mucus in the cervix in such a way that it prevents sperm from entering the uterus.
Progesterone also inhibits ovulation by inhibiting the release of LH by the pituitary gland and thus prevents the possibility of late fertilization of a possible second egg. Both functions are aimed at reducing the chance of multiple births.

Use of Nova Vitae Kokoro Progesterone Balance Cream 1.85% 100 ml:
Recommended use:
Apply 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon twice daily to neck, face, chest, palms of hands, or soles of feet.
How often:
Menstruating women to use on days 12-26 of the menstrual cycle.
Non-menstruating women: use the cream for 3 weeks and then do not use it for 1 week.
Consult an expert in case of pregnancy, breastfeeding and use of medication.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
