Folic acid is the synthetic form of vitamin B11. Folate is the so-called biologically available or active form of folic acid and therefore much better absorbable. Before our body can absorb folic acid, it has to go through two conversion processes. First from folic acid to dihydrofolate (DHF), then to tetrahydrofolate (THF) and finally to folate (5-MTHF).
